I carry a verse in my pocket,
From the Bible, the inspired Word of God,
To remind me as I go through my day
To Your words, yes, I will nod.

Instruct me, Lord, as I read them,
Teach me right from wrong.
Let them serve as a constant reminder
It’s to You that I belong.

Please write these verses carefully
Within my mind and heart
So they won’t just inform me
They’ll transform my every part.

Take away my selfishness,
My pride, my earthly focus.
Let Your Spirit flow in and through me
So it’s love and kindness others notice.

Shape me God and mold me
To reflect the image of Your Son
So when this day is over You’ll say,
My child, a job well done.
